Our ECONOMY

PART. V. A FAIR INTERNET MARKETPLACE

Section. 1. All entertainment, art, publications, content, broadcast and cable programing will be delivered via the internet; copyright owners will be compensated by royalties per minute of usage paid by consumers with unlimited access to content at current usage fees:

The Valentine Constitution makes the internet an old school public utility, and removes the monopolies, middlemen and gatekeepers who now charge access to airwaves we own, over an internet our government created, on “plants” we paid for in fees on our bills for years. Candidates got campaign funding and we got cheated out of our capitalism and our free market.

Costs will be reduced with one delivery system kept fresh and secure by handsomely compensating innovators. Gone will be the costs and interruptions of middlemen, advertisements, the ad portion of product prices, and most fees. Citizens will buy and sell their goods and services at no charge other than the 5% transaction tax (our only tax). Content creators will be paid royalties (the way the music industry has for decades) out of the monthly usage fees we pay now, which would cover what content creators now make, without having to pay middleman fees or advertising. Cheap, freely accessible content will neutralize intellectual piracy. Release control will keep movie theater type roll outs viable.

Section. 2. Our government will register copyrights, trademarks and patents on behalf of the submitter and provide guidance and advice:

Unhelpful, unduly complicated copyright, patent, TM and other registration and compliance systems impede creatives, artists, inventors and businesses from producing innovative products which stimulate economic growth, productivity and exports. Today our monopoly-gatekeeper-middleman internet marketplace requires, say song creators, to pay to an “aggregator” a fee plus 10% to 30% of what’s left after paying Amazon and iTunes 70% of the sale after PayPal takes its cut! Any American selling, buying or searching is forced to pay middlemen and transaction fees, suffer advertisers, and repeatedly risk private data to access their own economy! Monopoly gatekeepers prevent exciting new product, services and acts from reaching the marketplace sidelining independent creatives and the small businesses who provide 80% of our jobs. Search now takes us to their paying customers, not to our search. Under The Valentine Constitution ads and info sharing are all opt-IN and all fees and costs are covered by current usage fees and the 5% tax, our only tax. Sales, ratings, reviews and search are streamlined, and common sense filters allow buyers, sellers, workers, employers and hobbyists to easily find each other. The cream can then rise to the top in a piracy-free, ad-free, direct-to-market internet economy.

Keeping 90% of our current Constitution, foundations and rights intact, The Valentine Constitution modernizes our unaccountable government to assist rather than restrict citizens.

Women, LGBTs, blacks, anti-tax and anti-deficit groups, environmentalists, 80% of America will get what they want most.

Candidates, nonprofits, foundations, protests and fundraisers have failed for decades to fulfill their missions. If they were going to solve our problems, they would have by now. How much longer will you hope that government or Wall Street or scientists solve your problems when they haven’t yet?

Even if your wish list of candidates were elected, what legislation would they pass? They’re too polarized and stalemated, between and within parties, to pass all the legislation needed to solve our many problems, and how long would it take them? It took Valentine 12,000 hours over 45 years! Unless we dictate play, our problems will never be solved.

Left, right and center voters, nonprofits, causes and celebrities can combine their considerable power to get the word out to dictate to candidates to vote FOR RATIFICATION or not be (re)elected.

The hard work’s been done. All you have to do is say you want it to trigger positive polling and they’ll ratify it to get your vote, then we can finally fix everything.
